“IT is warm outside Swapo, and you do not have to feel ashamed of theft, corruption and poor service delivery, because you are not part of it,” former land reform deputy minister Bernadus Swartbooi says.

The leader and chief campaigner of the Landless People's Movement (LPM) made this statement at a media conference in Windhoek on Wednesday.
The conference was called to give LPM's position and views on the state of the domestic political economy, as well as on African and international politics.
Swartbooi said political analysts were wrong to say the movement was fighting for seats in parliament. He said the movement was fighting for an alternative Na mibia, and not for ethnic division.
“This country is more divided today under the architects of poverty (Swapo) that we have employed for 27 years, than it was under apartheid. Under apartheid, people knew that there was a common enemy; that they had to be united, and ethnicity did not play a role,” he stated.
Swartbooi added that political parties were at present driven by ethnicity, which, according to him, was dangerous for democracy.
He also claimed that money played a role in inter-party politics, and that the recent Swapo elections were not based on a prevalence of the values and principles of those who lost the elections.
