Woman remanded in custody after death of three-year-old Zoe Whitford
A woman charged in connection with the death of a three-year-old child has been remanded in custody.
Emer Whitford, 42, of Aubrey Grove, Shankill in Dublin was remanded in custody yesterday on the second appearance at Bray District Court.
She is charged with causing serious harm to little Zoe Whitford at Aubrey Grove, Shankill last Saturday. The charge comes under Section Four of the Non Fatal Offences Against the Person Act.
Zoe was rushed to hospital having been found gravely ill inside her family home last weekend.
Doctors fought to save the little girlâs life but she died in hospital on Tuesday.
She had been in a critical condition for a number of days and was in an induced coma.
However, gardai confirmed that her life support was switched off on Tuesday.
The young mother was not in court for the short hearing.
At her first appearance an order was made that she be given medical treatment while in custody.
The prosecution made an application for a remand in custody to appear again at Bray District Court on March 1.
Judge David Kennedy granted the application and adjourned the case for two weeks.Source: Google News
